Being invited to host events to highlight sustainability in ophthalmology is a real honour and I am extremely grateful to be able to help raise awareness of these issues.

Despite being the least sustainable attendee at @escrsby flying around the world I have actually learnt so much about sustainability and realise it is simple to start making small changes that can have a big impact. EyeTube Net asked me to record a recap of our sustainability quiz show at ESCRS and while it was a great event, instead of a recap I thought it’s even better to suggest some small changes every ophthalmologist and cataract surgery centre can make straight away. I hope these are helpful and encourage everyone to think about their environmental impact.

As always, I am just a host, trying to raise awareness through my following, when it comes to sustainability. The true heroes are the Young Ophthalmologists for Sustainability who are taking charge and making a difference. A  huge thank you and congratulations to this group of ophthalmologists for their drive to improve what we do through evidence, advocacy and hard work. Thank you for including me and I’ll look forward to what we will do for ESCRS 2025!
