BOOK COMPLIMENTARY LASER VISION ASSESSMENT
LASIK is the world’s most proven and commonly performed laser vision correction procedure.

It can be successfully used to treat those with long and short sightedness, astigmatism and sometimes presbyopia (use of reading glasses) to allow recipients to live free of glasses and contact lens.

With a wide treatment range and fast recovery time, it represents a preferred and safe option to optimise vision.

The procedure uses two synchronised lasers and is relatively fast, and comfortable. The first laser creates a thin flap of cornea which is folded back to expose the underlying corneal stroma. This is then reshaped with an Excimer laser to correct any glasses prescription.

The benefits of LASIK include:
  • Proven technology with low risk
  • Day surgery procedure and so recovery is possible in the comfort of your own home
  • Quick and relatively comfortable and pain free procedure
  • Fast visual recovery meaning little or no disruption to your work or lifestyle
  • Day to day tasks (driving) and some exercise can be resumed within 24-48 hours
  • Able to treat a wide prescription range and therefore suitability is often greater than for other procedures
  • Provides excellent quality visual outcomes
This video provides a visual demonstration of how LASIK works and what you can expect during the procedure.

FAQ’s

Is LASIK Laser Vision Correction a permanent solution for better eyesight? If not how long does it last?

LASIK is intended to be a long-term solution for vision correction, with high success rates. However, your eyes will still age naturally. As you get older, particularly in your 40s and 50s, you may develop presbyopia, which often requires reading glasses. If LASIK is done after the age of 45, a procedure called blended vision can help address both near and far vision. It’s also worth noting that your vision will continue to improve for the first 3-6 months after surgery.

What does LASIK laser treatment do for the eyes?

LASIK laser treatment reshapes the cornea to correct vision problems like near-sightedness, far-sightedness, and astigmatism. By re-shaping the cornea, light is better focused onto the retina, improving clarity and reducing the need for glasses or contact lenses.

What is the best age to get LASIK laser treatment?

The ideal age for LASIK depends on when your glasses prescription becomes stable. For some, this happens around 20, making them eligible for the procedure early on. For others, their prescription may continue to change into their early twenties. It’s important to have a stable prescription for at least 6 months before treatment to ensure lasting results.

What is the recovery time after LASIK laser surgery?

LASIK is a day procedure, allowing you to recover at home. Most people can resume everyday activities, like driving or light exercise, within 24-48 hours.
