It was a real pleasure to be invited back on the The European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) Journal Club Podcast, EyeJC.

In this episode we discussed a topic that all refractive surgeons think about but rarely discuss – whether our refractive treatments impact strabismus.

The findings of the review article published in the Journal of Cataract & Refractive Surgery® were mainly as expected where accommodative esotropia can do well, whereas exotropia has a much more varied prognosis after laser refractive surgery.

The discussion with expert surgeon, Suphi Taneri, as well as hosts Artemis Matsou MD, MRCP(UK), FEBO, PgDip CRSand Alfredo Borgia along with myself provides some interesting insights into how this paper may alter your pre-operative decision making and consent process.
